Great Day for Title L&C Title Chasers

Easter Saturday saw a much-reduced programme of fixtures in the L&C with Irlam Steel Rangers winning the only Premier Division game.

A first-half brace from Lewis Cartwright proved enough to put Sale Amateurs to the sword, but the visitors pulled a goal back in the second half through Karim Waite-Jackson to set up exciting finale.

In Division One, Bedians kept up the pressure on leaders Hazel Grove with a 6-1 romp at North Walkden Reserves.

The visitors were in fine form with the goals being shared between Michael Olayinka, Rylan McEvoy, Jack Cooper, Prindi Kimputu, Erick Ageymang and Enoch Emankwaa, with Billy Wood collecting Walkden’s consolation.

Unbeaten Grove and Bedians meet on the 27th April in a potential title-decider.

Village Manchester 1st collected the points from a convincing 4-1 home victory over Rushford Park.

Ray Terosoo Ada had his shooting boots on and notched a fine hat-trick with Mathew Shaibu adding the fourth with Paul Earlam scoring for Park.

With games in hand on two of the three teams they can catch, Village could yet secure third place behind the two runaway leaders.

Division Two title hopefuls Spurley Hey were in clinical form as they swept past Abacus Media Reserves 5-0.

Joe O’Brien and Lee Walker both scored, but Sam Pratt took top billing with a hat-trick after coming on as a substitute.

Hey are now two points behind second-placed Bollington H&L with four games to go, and five behind Dukinfield Athletic who have completed their games.

Second met third at Stockport Sports Village at the top of Division Three, and AFC Stockport Sats were on course to increase the gap over third-placed Stoconians as they led 6-1 midway through the second half.

Luke Rudden hit a hat-trick, with Will Phillips, Jordan Conway and Kaden Griffin also netting, Aiden Lovett scoring for the visitors.

A dislocated and fractured elbow for Stocs skipper Andrew Petty meant the game was abandoned with around twenty minutes to go.

Our best wishes go to Andy for a speedy recovery.

Only three points separated Manchester Rovers and Bury Amateur Reserves in Division A, and a 1-1 draw reinforced that there is little between the teams in mid table.

The Rovers scorer was Cailean Hitchinson who look forward to a Whitehead Cup Quarter-Final with Village Manchester 2nd next Saturday.

Only three points separate Timperley Villa from the Division B crown after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over a resilient Prestwich Marauders side.

Villa’s goals came via an Ollie Higson brace and James Steadman who have now not lost in the League since October.

Marauders belied their league position to push the home side all the way, Rory Howcroft and Marc Jenkins getting their goals.

Timperley visit Moston Brook 4th on Saturday when they bid to become the first club to secure a title this season.

In Division C, Signol Athletic 2nd entertained Saddleworth 3Ds Reserves and it was the visitors who bagged all three points thanks to goals from Ryan Rigby and Tommy Farrow-Brown, their second win in three games.
