Four L&C teams were involved in cup competition and two of them marched through into the later rounds with convincing victories.


Tintwistle Athletic Reserves, enjoying their return this season to the L&C in Division Two, were in action in the Derbyshire Amateur Cup and returned from Winster Darley Lions with an emphatic 5-0 win to ease into the next round.
Manchester Rovers, who are flying high in Division Three with an unbeaten record, took on fellow L&C outfit Broadheath Celtic in the Altrincham Senior Cup and cruised through with a comfortable 4-0 win.
Village Manchester have done well in recent years in the GFS Cup but their hopes of success this year were ended with a 4-1 home defeat by Mersey Marauders.

There were several crucial games in the Premier Division and leaders Abacus Media were without a fixture allowing the chasing pack to make their mark.
Salford Vics took their opportunity, leapfrogging the leaders after being made to work hard in a 2-1 win over AFC Monton. Vics missed a host of chances in the first half before Aaron Brown headed them into a lead and Paul Viller doubled the advantage on the hour mark. But Monton pulled one back with seven minutes remaining to set up a grandstand finish. Vics held on though to move to the summit.
Bedians have several games in hand and they beat third-placed Sale Ams 3-1. It was a close first half with Bedians converting a spot kick to go into the break 1-0 ahead. They were the dominant team after the break adding two more goals to top the Ams consolation strike.
Hazel Grove stay on the heels of the leading group with an emphatic 6-2 win over Pro United.

In Division One Chadderton Cott are in good form and they maintained their momentum with a 4-1 win over Elton Fold to draw level on points with non-playing leaders AFC Stockport.
Rushford Park’s hopes of closing the gap were hit as Stoconians put on their best display of the season to secure a 2-1 win.
Moston Brook Reserves kept up their hopes of joining the top group with a comfortable 5-1 win over FC Babylon.
The other game at Richmond Rovers was a 1-1 deadlock with Trafford Reserves.


It’s tight at the top of Division Two as Rochdalians drew level with non-playing leaders Santos with a thrilling 3-2 win over Mellor Reserves.
Another close contest at Abacus Media Reserves saw the home team check Didsbury FC’s good run of form scoring the only goal of the game.
Old StretsGregs set up a good day for the club with a 2-0 win at Konger FC and Hillgate were too hot for Cavaliers to handle with a big win.

There was plenty of action in Division Three with leaders Manchester Rovers in cup action.
Old StretsGregs Reserves moved into second place three points behind Rovers with a lively 4-2 win at Spurley Hey and Sublime Athletic moved on to the heels of the top group with a 4-0 win over South Manchester.
It was close in the other games with Altrincham Hale Thirds winning their local derby 2-1 at Trafford United and sharing the spoils in their games were AFC Stockport Warriors 2-2 with Saddleworth 3D and Village Manchester Reserves 1-1 with Heywood St James Reserves.


Division A leaders Moston Brook Thirds suffered an upset as they lost 5-2 hosting Stafford Argyle.
With games in hand, Waterhead and Didsbury Reserves closed the gap at the top.
Waterhead had to work hard for a 3-2 derby win over AFC Oldham but there were few problems for Didsbury in a 7-1 win over Fittonhill All-Stars.
Bury Ams A were also in seventh heaven in a 7-0 cruise over Prestwich Marauders.
In the other games Irlam Steel Rangers Reserves won 3-1 at Manchester Saints and Salford United won by the odd goal in five at Milnrow Firgrovia.

Signol Athletic were back on form in Division B with a 9-0 win at Saddleworth 3D Reserves.
The win moves Signol clear of their main two rivals Rushford Park Reserves and AFC Stockport Titans who shared eight goals in an end-to-end thriller.
The other game saw Didsbury Thirds move nearer the middle of the table with a solid 2-0 win at AFC Oldham Reserves.
